Adjustment of the rear derailleur and realignment of the derailleur hanger mount.
Sometimes, a simple adjustment to the rear derailleur doesn’t resolve shifting issues. If the derailleur hanger is bent or misaligned, the shifting can become erratic. Realigning the hanger to true is a game changer!
This process involves removing the rear derailleur and using a special alignment tool to ensure that the hanger mount is perfectly square and true. If it isn’t, adjustments will be made to bring it back into alignment. Once the hanger is aligned, the derailleur is reinstalled, and the following steps are taken: re-indexing, adjusting the cable, zeroing the adjustments, setting the stop screws, and performing a functional check. Finally, fine-tuning is done until the shifting operates flawlessly!
